The 2025 Spires 5aside divisional rounds concluded in dramatic fashion this weekend, with reigning champions White Tigers FC successfully defending their Lagos Island Division crown following a spirited 4-2 triumph over a resilient Young Strikers FC.

The final, played under a lively atmosphere, was a fitting climax to a tournament that has delivered on excitement, goals, and emerging talent. White Tigers FC showcased their composure and experience, managing the game effectively to ensure their hold on the title and secure the ₦500,000 champions’ prize.

Earlier in the day, Greater Tomorrow FA delivered a performance for the ages in the third-place playoff, dismantling Old Boys 2Odds FC with a stunning 9-2 victory. The match’s standout was undoubtedly Korede, who netted an astonishing six goals. Coupled with his earlier goal in the tournament, Korede finished as the division’s top scorer with seven goals, earning him the Golden Boot and a ₦50,000 cash reward.

Greater Tomorrow FA’s attacking flair not only secured them third place and a ₦100,000 prize, but also earned them an additional ₦50,000 for being the highest-scoring team in the division.

With the divisional rounds now complete, attention swiftly turns to the highly anticipated Spires 5aside State Championship, scheduled to kick off on October 25th, as confirmed by tournament coordinator Dr. Bankole Alibay.

The state finals will feature 16 elite teams, including champions from each of the five divisions and the overall best loser, a coveted slot awarded this year to the impressive Peckins FA.
