Tournament Overview
The Spires 5-a-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament has grown into one of the most anticipated events in Lagos, attracting over 400 players across 40 teams from five key divisions: Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, and Lagos Island. Held annually, the tournament offers free entry to participants and focuses on empowering youth through football.
With professional referees ensuring fair play, the competition uses a knockout format to determine the top-performing teams in each division. Exceptional individual performers, including the Top Scorer, MVP, Best Coach, and Best Goalkeepers are awarded in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the tournament.
Teams are not only competing for cash prizes but also for invaluable exposure to local and international scouts. The Spires 5-a-Side Tournament continues to act as a launchpad for emerging footballers, offering them a pathway to greater opportunities.

Tournament Structure
The Spires 5-a-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament features an exciting and competitive format designed to give emerging football talent the chance to shine on a state level.
A total of 40 teams are selected from five divisions across Lagos: Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, and Lagos Island. Each division has 8 teams that compete in knockout rounds, with the top 3 teams from each division advancing to the State Championship. Additionally, one team with the best performance but not qualifying as a top 3 finisher will earn the title of Overall Best Loser and also advance to the State Championship, completing the final 16 teams.
The State Championship is divided into 4 groups, with each group containing 4 teams. The top 2 teams from each group will move on to the quarter-finals. From there, it’s a knockout format: the last 8 teams compete in head-to-head matches, with the winners progressing to the semi-finals. The final stages feature the third-place match and the grand final, where the best teams will battle it out for the championship.
Age Restriction (16-21)
In line with our commitment to youth development, the tournament will focus on players aged 16 to 21. This strategic change will allow for a targeted approach to nurture and develop the next generation of football stars, providing these emerging talents with specialized coaching, mentorship, and a clear pathway to professional football.
