Spires 5-Aside Divisional Qualifiers: Finalists Emerge After Thrilling Semi-Final Showdowns in Ikorodu

The excitement of the Spires 5-Aside Divisional Qualifiers continued on Today as the Ikorodu Division served up two pulsating semi-final clashes that captivated fans at the Deeonis Football Court, Ota Ona, Ikorodu.

Orion and Leon FC Advance with Commanding Display

In the first semi-final of the day, Orion and Leon FC booked their place in Saturday’s final with an emphatic 6-3 victory over Marine Boys FC. Skipper Emmanuel led by example, netting a clinical hat-trick that set the tone for a dominant performance. Supporting strikes from Daniel, Seyi, and Akin ensured Orion and Leon remained in control throughout.

Despite spirited efforts from Marine Boys who found the net through Peter, Saliba, and Friday their comeback hopes were ultimately dashed by Orion and Leon’s relentless attacking flair.

New Generation FC Outgun Evagrin in Nine-Goal Thriller

The second semi-final was a spectacle of attacking football as New Generation FC edged out the highly-rated Evagrin FC in a 7-5 goal fest. New Generation stunned their opponents with a blistering start, racing to a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Evagrin, never short on drama, responded valiantly after the break. Obinna got them off the mark, and Femi produced a sensational four-goal haul in a bid to claw their way back. But New Generation held firm under pressure, adding four more goals in the second half to seal their place in the final.

Saturday Showdown:

The stage is now set for a blockbuster final as Orion and Leon FC face off against New Generation FC on Saturday, May 17. Both sides have shown attacking prowess and resilience, promising a clash worthy of the title.
