Ikorodu Division Delivers Thrills as Spires 5Aside Season 3 Kicks Off with High-Scoring Knockouts

The highly anticipated Season 3 of the Spires 5Aside tournament kicked off on a high note at the Ikorodu division, as the knockout rounds were played over the weekend.

In the opening game of the divisional rounds, which held on the 11th of April, Godbless FC edged out Better Tomorrow FC 4–3, while reigning champions of the Ikorodu division, Orion and Leon, whitewashed Amuludun FC 5–0.

The last rounds of the knockout phase saw the Ikorodu division live up to the hype of being a high-scoring division, as Diamond FC obliterated Adhoc FC 10–6 in a fierce encounter. Old boys New Generation FC made another bold statement by snatching the final ticket to the semis, as they beat Lofty Skills FC 9–5 to put the game to bed.

The excitement continues with the semi-finals on Wednesday, as Godbless FC will face New Generation FC, while Diamond FC will square up against Orion and Leon FC in a match that is expected to be the highlight of the day.

The Spires 5Aside tournament remains a platform that promotes grassroots football talent in Nigeria, as well as empowering players and communities alike.

The semi-finalists are battling for a chance to secure a top-three spot within the division to represent Ikorodu in the Spires 5-Aside State Championship.
